Yeast Infection Rash
Among the skin conditions that a person can develop during their life, candidiaisis, which is also known as yeast infection is probably the most common and easily treatable one. This infection is caused by a fungus from the Candida species, and most commonly, it develops into a yeast infection rash on the area it affects. The candida rash may have an effect on several locations of the body, which include:
- the entire skin – which is simply known as skin yeast infection
- the mouth – oral yeast infection
- the genitals – candida vaginitis or candida balanitis
- the throat – candida esophagitis
The most frequent to be infected is the oral cavity. Because there are a high number of microorganisms of this type present in the mouth, and if oral hygiene is not performed effectively, they can start multiplying chaotically and cause the infection by infiltrating the tissue.
Candidiaisis normally appears due to several factors which change the normal features of the area. If it appears on the skin, it is influenced by moistness and ineffective personal hygiene. Inadequate hygiene of the mouth and vagina is also the cause of the candida rash on these parts of the body. As for diaper rash, it is usually caused because of the constant moisture that dampens the baby’s skin.
Yeast infection rash on the skin appears more frequently in those areas of the body that are not sufficiently ventilated and remain moist. Such areas include the skin folds under the breasts, the armpits, in the nail-beds and in any other locations where skin folds are the norm. When it comes to vaginal candida rash, the yeast that is a normal part of the flora located in any woman’s vagina can start multiplying chaotically due to prolonged steroid or antibiotic treatments. Other causes of vaginal rash are menstruation, birth control pills, diabetes, menopause and pregnancy.
The main symptoms of a yeast infection depend very much on the place it occurs, but all of them create discomfort. In women’s vaginal yeast infection rash, they include itchiness and irritation of the vagina, with a white cottage-cheese-like discharge, and frequent pain during sexual contact. Oral candidiasis is rather painful and creates difficulty swallowing, caused by the red lesions on the tongue, which are often accompanied by white patches. The superficial candida rash appears as red flat areas, with sharp edges, which cause pain and itchiness.
How to treat a Candida rash?
Fortunately, because it is quite common, candidiasis can be easily treated if discovered and addressed effectively. Self-care is the most used type of treatment, because people only need to buy over-the-counter medicine from the nearest pharmacy and use it at home. However, if the rash does not seem to be milder or to disappear in less than two weeks, then one should definitely visit the doctor. Apart from the cases when this infection affects those people with a depressed immune system, skin candidiasis should not create many problems and should be easy to treat and cure.
Overall, the yeast infection rash is a very common and widespread condition, which can appear in multiple locations on the human body. The most common location for this infection is the mouth, because the microorganisms live there in large numbers, and if oral hygiene is not performed correctly, the pathogen multiplies rapidly to create the disease.
